D2 Technologies to Discuss Global RCS and VoLTE implementations at Rich Communications Summit
COO Doug Makishima will discuss benefits and implementation considerations when pairing VoLTE with RCS
Berlin, Germany (Rich Communication Summit 2014) and Santa Barbara, CA – October 28, 2014 — D2 Technologies, the market leader in embedded IP communications software platforms, today announced that chief operating officer Doug Makishima will participate in “Is original RCS ‘knee jerk’ reaction for SMS revenue loss has now fundamentally changed?” a panel presentation offered at the Rich Communication Summit 2014, which kicks off today in Berlin.
During the presentation, Makishima and other key industry leaders will discuss the relationship of the RCS, VoLTE and WebRTC standards and convergence of all IP services, and whether the objective for RCS has evolved.
Joining Doug on the panel are Thomas Welzel, Senior Manager Next Generation Communications at Deutsche Telekom and JF Sulivan, Chief Marketing Officer at Acision. Ovum analyst Pamela Clark-Dickson will moderate the discussion.
The panel will also cover the challenges of adoption RCS is facing. Initial RCS-based services for consumers have not been as successful in terms of KPIs as the mobile operators had hoped and the services have been slow to roll out and interconnect. Additionally, Makishima will discuss how network and device APIs, along with cloud-based services can provide additional customer value and speed RCS deployment.
In addition to the panel, D2 Technologies will be demonstrating how it seamlessly combines comprehensive RCS, VoLTE (IR.92) and video calling (IR.94) using IMS and LTE infrastructure elements from NewNet and Node-H to deliver the GSMA’s so-called “Green Button Promise.” D2 Technologies’ mCUE 4G embedded software implements these rich-call and rich-messaging features natively in the mobile handset for a completely seamless user experience.
