SANTA BARBARA, CA and LAS VEGAS, NV (2010 International CES)
January 6, 2010
D2 Technologies, the market leader in embedded IP communications software platforms, and NetLogic Microsystems, Inc., a worldwide leader in high-performance intelligent semiconductor solutions, today announced the availability of D2’s mCUE™ converged communications client on NetLogic Microsystems’ Au1300®, a member of the market-leading ultra low-power Alchemy® processor family. The collaborative solution offers OEMs and ODMs an advanced platform for Android™-based IP communications devices such as media phones that deliver media-rich embedded applications with an optimized performance, cost and power consumption profile. D2’s mCUE client software solution integrated with the AU1300 supports all communications modes, including circuit-based (PSTN/cellular) voice call, VoIP, IM, SMS and video call, and provides full integration of popular services such as GoogleTalk, Yahoo! Messenger and other forms of social networking and communications into an intuitive and converged address book.
“D2 has developed advanced IP communications and VoIP for the Android framework,” said Mike Wodopian, vice president of marketing, Ultra Low-Power Alchemy Processors at NetLogic Microsystems. “By porting the mCUE software onto our Au1300 embedded processor family, we will be able to demonstrate advanced multi-mode unified communications and interoperability with social networking and IM communities for next-generation media-rich devices.”
Devices with mCUE provide users with advanced presence-based and push-to-x control of circuit switched PSTN/cellular and VoIP calls, PBX feature activation, IM, email, SMS and other features typically only available on PC-based unified communications soft clients. Its revolutionary user interface, built on top of a multi-identity, multi-session, multi-protocol engine, enables flexible interoperability with multiple communications services such as enterprise IP PBXs and UC systems, and commercial VoIM services like GoogleTalk, Yahoo!, MSN, AIM, and others.
NetLogic Microsystems’ ultra low-power Alchemy processors offer a high-performance processor running at up to 800MHz, and integrate a high-definition video acceleration engine and an advanced 2D/3D graphics processor in a cost-effective 537-pin BGA package with 0.65mm or 0.8mm ball pitches. NetLogic Microsystems’ Alchemy processor also includes a best-in-class LCD controller with four graphics planes for 32-bit aRGB support, and the Media Acceleration Engine™ (MAE) provides H.264, MPEG 1/2/4, DivX, XviD, WMV9 and VC-1 hardware acceleration.
“Consumers want the stability and flexibility of the Android platform on more devices than mobile handsets, and by working with NetLogic Microsystems, we’ve created an integrated solution that helps OEMs get ahead of that adoption curve,” noted Doug Makishima, chief operating officer at D2 Technologies. “NetLogic Microsystems’ Alchemy processors lead the industry in both performance and low-power, and deliver the top-notch media architecture required for the development of new and innovative portable and tethered products. When paired with D2’s mCUE client, OEMs can create a variety of consumer electronics devices that leverage the power of Android for converged communications.”
Visitors to this week’s 2010 International CES, being held January 7-10 at the Las Vegas Convention Center, can get a first look at devices running D2’s mCUE on the Au1300 processor over Android in a preview suite at the Las Vegas Hilton. To arrange a private demonstration, contact D2 Technologies.
