D2 Creates Two Business Units, Promotes Industry Veterans Doug Makishima to COO and Paul Wu to VP

Makishima to take over D2’s general operations and Mobile and Personal Communications Business Unit; Wu to head D2’s Fixed Access Business Unit

 

SANTA BARBARA, CA — August 6, 2009 — D2 Technologies, the market leader in embedded IP communications software platforms, today announced management and organizational changes in response to increased customer traction and demand for its embedded communications products.   Twenty-year industry veteran Doug Makishima has been promoted to chief operating officer, and will also be the acting head of D2’s new Mobile and Personal Communications Business Unit (MPCBU).  Paul Wu, a highly respected networking industry professional based in Asia, has been promoted to vice president of the Fixed Access Business Unit (FABU).

Formerly the vice president of marketing and sales at D2, Makishima is a long-time veteran of the networking, storage and communications industries. Prior to joining the firm in 2006, he was vice president of marketing at Intoto, a provider of network security software platforms. He has held senior management positions with Hifn, ParkerVision, Nortel Networks, Bay Networks, AMD, Auspex and Adaptec. He was involved in the acquisition of WLAN startup Netwave Technologies by Bay Networks/Nortel, and during his engineering career, developed patented storage IC technology. Makishima has actively contributed to several IEEE and ANSI committees focused on networking, communications and storage standards. He holds a B.S.E.E. from the University of California at Santa Barbara, and an M.B.A. from Santa Clara University.

Based in D2’s Taiwan office, Paul Wu most recently was the company’s senior director of Asia Business Development, overseeing operations, sales, marketing and customer relations throughout Asia.  He is a seasoned software veteran and a recognized expert in networking, embedded systems and communication technologies such as VoIP.  Prior to joining D2 in 2004, Wu served as sales deputy director of Wi-Fi and networking for Wistron Neweb Corp.  He holds a Master of Science degree in computer science from the University of Southern California and a Bachelor of Science degree in computer science from TunghaiUniversity in Taiwan.
